Why Finishing Your Antibiotic Course Matters

July 2026

It is tempting to stop taking antibiotics once you start feeling better, but doing so allows the hardiest bacteria to survive and multiply — a key driver of antibiotic resistance.

Resistance does not just affect the individual patient; resistant strains can spread within families and communities, making future infections harder to treat for everyone.

Always complete the full course as prescribed, and never share prescription antibiotics with someone else, even if their symptoms look similar to yours.
